discussion on Inter-constituency and sub-regional cooperation

During the 3rd EMRC annual meeting there was a very elaborative discussion on the Inter-constituency and sub regional cooperation; it was emphasized that the member countries of EMRC should do their efforts to be united for reaching the strategic direction of fighting AIDS, TB & Malaria and should share their experiences and information.

The following recommendation were made:

  • Increasing the frequency of EMRC constituency meeting from 1 to 2 meetings.  

  • Establishment of a Reginal Coordinating Mechanism (RCM) platform including Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran to do a critical analysis of TB, HIV and Malaria related issues, concentrated on cross boarder issues, whereas, the Global Fund have a particular pool of fund for regional concept notes and this approach will be recognized as a funding opportunity.

  • Moreover, following working groups were recommended to be established with a responsile focal point:  


  • Establishment of a Regional Technical Advisory Group: Mr. Abdul Wahid Wafajow was asked by the meeting to lead the development of initial draft of TOR.

  • Stigma discrimination: Iran

  • Human rights: Tunisia 

  • Conflict : Sudan with support of Afghanistan

  • Adolescent:  Morocco

  • Migrants : Pakistan

  • Sustainability and Transitional plan :  Iraq

  • Establishing a Youth Advisory Group for the EMRC: Iran
